The Yodock® Construction Barricade is a water or sand ballasted barrier. It is used to delineate traffic, secure fences and signage, block entrances and restricted areas, and separate the construction area from the general public. It can be configured in multiple ways to meet site specific needs. The system can also be fitted with a steel reinforcement structure to provide rigorous positive protection.

BARRIER WALL

 

A longitudinal barrier is a device that provides positive protection to a work zone. The typical longitudinal barrier is made of concrete and positively connected together to form a continuously delineated travel way, which prevents penetration of the work area by a motorist. These devices are very heavy and difficult to install and relocate. The Yodock® system is a deformable barrier, which actually helps absorb the energy of an impacting vehicle, while preventing work area penetration. The system helps to eliminate the high costs of transporting, installing and relocating the barriers.

A patented steel reinforcement system must be mounted onto the Yodock® Model 2001 or 2001M barrier. When the rails are attached to the system, they become an acceptable barrier wall. The Model 2001 has met the NCHRP 350 Test Level 3 requirement of 62 mph, and the Model 2001M has met the Test Level 2 requirement of 45 mph. Both systems have been accepted by the FHWA (see letter B-97).Please note that the Steel Reinforcement Kit must be installed for the product to qualify as a Barrier Wall. For water filled units to perform as barriers, they must have a steel framework, internally or externally.

Longitudinal Channelizing Device

LONGITUDINAL CHANNELIZING DEVICE

Traffic ControlLongitudinal Channelizing Devices are traffic control devices, which form a continuous delineation of a work zone. This category is a outlined in a new section of the Manual of Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). Traditionally, Type II barricades, drums and cones are used to delineate the intended path motorists are to follow when passing through a work zone. These devices are spaced at various distances, depending on the speed and type of work. The spacing between the barricades can create confusion to the motorists, allow vehicles to enter or exit in the wrong areas of the work zone, and can create a hazard if struck by a vehicle.

A Longitudinal Channelizing Device presents a continuous delineation of the work zone. This clearly presents the travel way to the motorist, clearly identifies turn areas or entrances and exits throughout the work zone, and increases the decision sight distance of the motorist. This results in a more fluid traffic flow through the work zone and reduces risks of accident caused by motorists who do not follow the intended travel way through a work zone. These devices also help in the channelization of pedestrians though a work zone, and can be accessorized with handrails and fencing, to help ensure the work zone meets the Americans with Disabilities Act Requirements.The system meets the NCHRP 350 criteria and has received a letter of acceptance from the FHWA (see letter WZ-107).

Type III Barricade

TYPE III BARRICADE

 A Type III barricade is a device used to temporarily close a roadway while it is under construction or presents a hazard to motorist and traveling public. The Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD)outlines the minimum design standards these devices must meet to be used on the nation’s roadways. Traditional Type III barricades are made of metal, wood, or plastic. They have three horizontal panels, which are used to provide a surface to affix retro reflective tape and to mount signs. The design characteristics of these devices make them susceptible to movement by wind and by pedestrians or motorists. Currently sand bags are used to prevent movement of the barricades.

The Yodock® Wall Company, Inc. has determined that the ease of intentional movement of the traditional Type III barricade creates an unacceptable risk to pedestrians and motorists. To help eliminate these risks; a Type III kit was developed to be used in conjunction with the Yodock® Model 2001 or 2001M. This kit transforms the 2001 or 2001M into an effective Type III barricade, while utilizing the ballasting capabilities of the Yodock® Model 2001 or 2001M. With the proper amount of ballast, the device is difficult to intentionally move which helps to ensure that no unauthorized access to a hazardous area is allowed. The Yodock® Type III has passed the NCHRP 350 criteria and has been accepted by the FHWA. See letter WZ-106 for Test Level 3, at 62 mph.

Temporary Sign Support

TEMPORARY SIGN SUPPORT

 A Temporary sign support is a device used to temporarily provide information to a motorist and the public concerning temporary roadway conditions. The Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD)outlines the minimum design standards these devices must meet to be used on the nation’s roadways.

Traditional temporary sign supports are made of metal, wood, or plastic. Although there are many types, they generally have one or two mounting posts which are used to provide the appropriate height and support for temporary signs. The design characteristics of these devices make them susceptible to movement by wind and by pedestrians or motorists. Currently a majority of these devices use sand bags to provide ballast and prevent movement of the barricades.

The Yodock® Wall Company, Inc. has determined that the ease of intentional movement of the traditional temporary sign supports creates an unacceptable risk to pedestrians and motorists. To help eliminate these risks the Yodock T3 kit was developed to be used in conjunction with the Yodock® Model 2001 or 2001M. This kit transforms the 2001 or 2001M into an effective Temporary Sign Support, while utilizing the ballasting capabilities of the Yodock® Model 2001 or 2001M.
